For the first time local Artists
Sophia Rose and Carrie MaKenna are showing their Mandala artwork in an exhibit
in Belmar in Lakewood, followed by five weeks of experiential
workshops.
This is not your usual show of traditional Mandalas. The
artists create and use their Mandalas in their daily lives. They have found that
creating and working with these Mandalas has afforded a deeper sense of
strength, balance and creativity. Mandalas can be a focal point for meditation,
a portal to dreams, a prayer for healing, or simply a beautiful decoration. To
Sophia and Carrie the Mandala represents a solid form of our intent and our
wholeness.
Come see this exhibit of amazing interpretations of universal
energies in Mandala form. Enjoy a full evening of good art, good food, good
music and good company.
In conjunction with this exhibit the Artists are
offering this five session workshop series. Participants wishing to attend the
workshops will have the opportunity to explore and create their own
Mandalas.

Whether a beginning or accomplished artist this class will propel
you forward. The word Mandala is a Sanskrit word that literally means “Circle in
a Square.” Mandalas now take many shapes, sizes and styles. Today Mandalas are
used as a personal tool for meditation, as a spiritual point of contact, or
simply as a beautiful art form.
In these workshops you will make your own
Mandalas with a specific intention and learn to work with your Mandala as a
meditation tool. We’ll use a variety of art making materials - collage, drawing,
pencil, marker, crayon, pastel and a variety of fabrics and notions.
All
participants will be invited to submit one of their Mandalas to show in an
exclusive gallery style art opening on Friday August 6.
